DB Brilliant Skin Review
I have to admit, I can be a brand snob and because I had tried nothing from this brand before, I literally had no idea what to expect and I was a little sceptical. C’mon, $16.99 for a blush and highlighter or a bronzer and highlighter, who can blame me for raising an eyebrow at that!
The duos from Designer Brand come in a blush – highlighter duo or a bronzer – highlighter. Each duo comes in 2 shades and the soft core hoarder in me wants to collect them all. The two shades I have are Rosy Glow (Blush) and Warm Glow (bronzer). These duo’s are made with Aloe Vera, Chamomile and Hyaluronic Acid to be moisturising on the skin and to last all day.
The DB Brilliant Skin Rosy Glow compact has blown my mind. I can not believe how gorgeous the blush in this duo is. It is creamy and almost buttery, even though it’s a powder formula. I go in with a light hand and built this colour up and I find it applies so easily and blends really well. Honestly, this works better then a lot of high end blushes that I own and I have been completely blown away. The highlighter is really nice too but I don’t highlight often so I haven’t been using this side of the compact as much but I do love the shade. It reminds me of the Kevyn Aucion highlighter in the shade starlight which is one of my favourite highlighters ever so I will be testing out if this could be a good dupe.
The DB Brillant Skin bronzer duo has the same, gorgeous formula as the blush compact. The bronzer is soft and creamy but I think I will need to pick up the darker shade of the bronzer because the one I currently have could almost be a foundation on my chocolate skin tone, thank gosh it’s winter and my skin has lightened up a few shades so I could actually test this out. It does blend beautifully and it lasts about 6-7 hours on my face but yes, the darker compact (bronze glow) would be a better match for my skin tone. I do have to say, I love, love, love the highlighter in this duo. It such a gorgeous, golden shade and I have been loving using it as an inner corner highlight.
I think the biggest con to this product is the packaging. It does feel on the cheaper side and you have to be sure to really close to compact and make it click (haha oh Ronald Mcdonald theme song is coming back to me right now) because I have used this a few times, thinking I had closed the compact and throwing it in the drawer, only to come back later to see it has popped open. However, I think this is such a small con, especially when the formula of these products are so gorgeous and the price point is so low.
If you could only pick up one of these products, my favourite is definitely the blush duo. However, after I try the darker bronzer, I will update this post and let you know how I got on. For a product like this, with a price tag this low. I am seriously impressed and think this is an absolute beauty bargain.
